Smackdown June 30th 2016

Smackdown

At the beginning of Smackdown they announced a Fatal 4 Way Match where the winner would face Rusev later in the night for the United States Championship. That match would kick off Smackdown.

Cesaro defeated Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus, and Apollo Crews

I was rooting for Cesaro but I was also very skeptical. Had WWE just decided to forget about Titus O'Neil fighting for the title? During the match I also thought that it was stupid that Del Rio and Sheamus were even trying to work together considering what happened between them on Raw. Nonetheless Cesaro won by performing the Cesaro Swing on Del Rio then forcing him to tap out to the Sharpshooter.
After the match when Cesaro was on his way out Del Rio attacked Cesaro. He hit him with a Corner Stomp off the apron on the the outside of the ring which "injured" Cesaro's ribs. That's when Rusev came out and said that if Cesaro was really the Swiss Superman he would face Rusev for the title right now. Not wanting to look like a coward but clearly in pain, Cesaro accepted.

Rusev defeats Cesaro to retain the United States Championship

After Cesaro accepted the challenge their match started shortly after, and I thought it was amazing. This match alone for some reason made the US Championship mean so much more. It was such a good match in my opinion. Rusev eventually wrenched in the Accolade and forced Cesaro to tap but I would really like to see more between these two if it's all that good.
After the match in a backstage interview between Renee Young and Rusev it was announced that Rusev will once again defend the United States Championship on Raw against Titus O'Neil. All I could think was really? You could've had a feud that was actually interesting and entertaining but instead are bringing Titus O'Neil back in the mix. No offense to Titus but he's just boring.

Dana Brooke defeats Billy Kay

Nothing to say, never seen Billy Kay before probably won't see her again.

Miz TV with guest Dean Ambrose

The two would bicker throughout the show until it climaxed when Miz blindsided Ambrose setting up for main event Champion vs Champion match. Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose.

Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman defeat some jobbers

This match existed to lead to what happened after when New Day appeared on the titantron mimicking the Wyatts, but Xavier still looked very afraid and quiet. The segment ended with Bray acknowledging Xavier's fear, and told him to tell his friends what he already knows. This rivalry is becoming very interesting especially with Xavier and what not. I'm very curious to see where this is going and what's wrong with Xavier Woods.

Sasha Banks defeats Summer Rae

As expected Sasha Banks wins with a bit of difficulty but not enough to halt the momentum she has. On the topic of Summer Rae what the heck is her deal? I feel like it's only a matter of time before she's let go or she quits because she hasn't had any major accomplishments and probably never will...sorry.

Dean Ambrose defeats The Miz

It was a surprisingly good and fast paced match that ended with Dean Ambrose reversing a double axe handle from the top rope on to The Miz in to Dirty Deeds. My only concern is the Skull Crushing Finale. Everyone always seems to kick out of his finishing move including Ambrose in this match. It shouldn't be his finisher if he doesn't finish anybody with it.

Star of the Night: Rusev vs Cesaro

This was a stand out match in my opinion and I don't know why it wasn't the main event. I also don't understand why they don't continue this feud, well I guess for all I know they still could. I hope they do.

That was my Smackdown review, hope you enjoyed and
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
