Raw July 4th 2016

Monday Night Raw

Raw this week started with a food fight segment because it was Independence Day. It was a funny segment that I kind of enjoyed, especially Kevin Owens' comment at the end where after getting pied in the face he said "This wouldn't have happened on Canada Day."

Rusev retains the United States
Championship against Titus O'Neil

For a second I thought they were going to let Titus win because it was July 4th but luckily they rightfully allowed Rusev to retain the Championship by absolutely dismembering Titus with The Accolade. Now maybe they can stop beating the same horse and have Cesaro challenge Rusev for the title again.

Enzo and Big Cass defeat The Social Outcasts (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel)

The Social Outcasts came out dressed as some American figures I assume. They rightfully lost against Enzo and Cass in a meh match.

Charlotte Promo

Charlotte came out flanked by Dana Brooke of course and began talking about how everyone is jealous of her because she's the best at everything she does and the proof is around her waist, referring to the WWE Womens Championship. She then said that no one is more jealous than Sasha Banks adding that "The Boss" is all hype. That's when Sasha Banks came out. Sasha talked about how Charlotte may be the champ, but she'll never be Sasha Banks, and she'll never beat Sasha Banks. Charlotte then called herself the Legit Boss which lead to Sasha roasting her by saying a legit boss has her own style and isn't a knockoff of her dad in the 80s.

Sasha is a legend holy. I just need them to make it official already that she'll be challenging Charlotte for the title at Battleground and I'll be happy, well I will be when Sasha wins.

Dean Ambrose defeats The Miz

One thing to mention is that they're officially calling the World Heavyweight Championship the WWE Championship now so...maybe a new title will come with the brand split? Anyways we'd already seen this match last week on Smackdown despite Michael Cole saying it's rare. The match was very similar too with Dean hurting the exact same leg throughout the match. Just like on Smackdown Dean won. As he was celebrating Seth Rollins interrupted as his match was next, so Dean decided to go on commentary.

Seth Rollins defeats Dolph Ziggler

Rollins easily beat Ziggler hitting the Pedigree after reversing the Zig Zag. After the match Rollins grabbed a mic and stepped up on the announce table to talk about how Roman should be taken out the triple threat. Dean stepped up and Seth talked about how Dean stole the title from him even though he deserves it more. That's when Dean Ambrose attacked Seth Rollins ending the assault with Dirty Deeds on the announce table.

Wyatt Family

There was a short video with The Wyatt Family at a farm looking place. They invited The New Day to their "compound" where they're from.

Baron Corbin Video Package

It was a cool video highlighting what he's done on the main roster thus far but I'm not sure why it was there, he wasn't even on Raw.

Vickie Guerrero

Excuse me! It's good ol' Vickie Guerrero. God her voice is annoying. Anyways she said she's putting her name in to be the new GM for Smackdown when it goes live and I sincerely hope she doesn't get it.

The Golden Truth defeats The Vaudevillains

So...the team of The Vaudevillains that have been in the tag title picture for the last couple months are now jobbing to The Golden Truth. RIP Vaudevillains momentum if they even had any to begin with.

John Cena addressed The Club

John Cena started out by saying he realized that if you fight one member of The Club, you fight the whole Club. With that he called out The Club and brought back his old catch phrase "You want some, Come get some."  The Club of course came out and began by saying that they will soon run the WWE, but they can't do that until they get rid of John Cena.

There was a part I thought was kind of funny when AJ Styles said he needed The Club in case John decided to break out the shovel and bury him, if you don't understand it's wrestling slang. He also said that no one came out to help John Cena because no one can relate to him, but they can relate to The Club. Everyone wants to beat up John Cena but The Club are the only ones with big enough balls to do it. With that they charged the ring and dominated Cena until Enzo and Big Cass came out to even the odds. This lead to a match at Battleground being scheduled; John Cena and Enzo and Big Cass vs The Club. I was hoping for a Cena Styles rematch so I'm not too excited about this match, but the segment was funny.

Becky Lynch defeats Summer Rae

The only thing I have to really talk about with this match is that it's promoting a match at Battleground that I'm not excited or anticipating at all. Becky Lynch vs Natalya. I mean Natalya hasn't even given us a good reason for attacking Becky.

New Day Promo

The New Day start to joke about the invite to the compound, however Xavier stays quiet the whole time. This goes on until The Wyatts appear on the titantron and tell them to come to his world and see the truth. "You laugh at my invite but it's a challenge. are you in?" Bray asked the New Day. He added "lest us forget that you started this and when you're ready, we'll be waiting."

The New Day begins to joke some more when Xavier begins to yell "Why can
't you see what's going on? They're dangerous and if you can't see that then...I don't think the New Day will be able to survive." With that Xavier walked out raising the question, is the New Day breaking up? For the sake of good story telling I wouldn't mind I just hope they make something out of this.

Team U.S.A. defeats The Multicultural Alliance

It was a 16 man elimination tag team match and of course Team U.S.A. won its Independence Day. It ended with The Big Show and Zack Ryder left on Team U.S.A. pinning the final man on the Multicultural Alliance, Sheamus.

Star of the Night: Brock Lesnar's Opponent

It was announced that on Smackdown this week Brock Lesnar's opponent for Summerslam would be announced which gives an actual reason to watch Smackdown. Even though I'm a bit salty that he's on the cover of WWE 2K17 and not someone who's here all the time, it's still exciting and could lead to possible returns.

All in all this episode of Raw had all the right guys, but in the end was just meh.
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
