My Opinion On...

My Opinion on Why Everyone Hates Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns debuted on the main roster alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in a faction called The Shield. During this time he became Tag Team Champion with Seth Rollins and overall dominated the roster, that was until The Shield was destroyed by Seth Rollins. After that he challenged Brock Lesnar for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania 31 but didn't win. Later on he won his first World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose at Survivor Series 2015, only to lose it 5 minutes and 15 seconds later to a Money In The Bank cash in from Sheamus. He later defeated Sheamus to regain the title again, lost it in the Royal Rumble match to Triple H and then main evented Wrestlemania 32 to regain the title. Now he's suspended and Dean Ambrose has the championship but before the suspension Roman was being pushed as the company's top face, so why did everyone hate him? Pretty much the same reason I do, and here is that reason.

Roman Reigns' high point in his World Heavyweight Championship feuds were when he beat Sheamus to win the title for the second time. He had such an underdog feel that people cheered for him and wanted him to win, myself included. So what happened after that? What made him lose all that momentum? He lost his underdog feel. He began dominating everyone so badly he was no longer the underdog in fact, he was expected to win. And he did every time.

Roman Reigns was no longer the underdog and it began to frustrate people. Not because he wasn't the underdog but because every match he was in he won. It wouldn't be so bad if his background weren't as it was. See the reason the overwhelming majority of kids like Roman Reigns is because he's the good guy but the reason the overwhelming majority of adults dislike Roman Reigns is because he isn't that great of a wrestler, well he wasn't.

Roman Reigns has become a better wrestler than when he first started being in the World Heavyweight Title picture but since people still have that idea in their head that he's a bad wrestler and all they're going to stay on the band wagon of hating Roman Reigns for that reason. Looking at how he became a WWE wrestler it's actually quite easy to dislike him. Previous to FCW which at the time was WWE's Developmental Territory, Roman Reigns had little experience in professional wrestling. He was actually going to be a football player, but the WWE gave him a call leading more mature fans to assume he was called for more his physical appearance rather than his overall skill in wrestling.

You may be wondering then, why do people boo him for that? When people see Roman Reigns be pushed as the best in the company and as someone who's almost never beat it annoys them because he didn't really work for what he has. Roman Reigns got handed a spot in the WWE while people like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, and more went through multiple promotions and countries to end up in the WWE and all end up getting beaten by Roman. It wouldn't have been as bad if Roman had more time before his title runs to develop his skills not only in the ring but on the mic as well, and even though he's gotten better people are going to remember the fact that WWE pushed him so hard and he wasn't ready.

Apart from all that Roman Reigns' character is kind of just boring. Period. He's the cliche good guy, follows all rules and still wins gimmick is boring as it is but alsonhas been already used by, yup you guessed it, John Cena. He isn't even as popular anymore. The time when Roman Reigns said he wasn't a good guy or a bad guy he's just the guy was way too obvious that they were trying to shift him from the character and annoyed the fans even more.

My opinion is that Roman Reigns was pushed way too early, his character hadn't fully been developed along with that his in ring and mic skills. However I think he's improved drastically in all of the respects but fans still have the idea that
was originally stuck in their heads. It kind of annoys me when they chant "you still suck" or "you can't wrestle" because despite the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of Roman Reigns he still goes out and risks himself every night to entertain the fans and I honestly think he's underappreciated.

That's why I think everyone hates Roman Reigns. Have a different opinion? Comment and let me know.
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
