Smackdown July 14th 2016

Smackdown

This episode of Smackdown would mark the end of an era, the last episode of Smackdown aired on Thursday nights and to be honest...I can't say I'm going to miss it. That being said here's my last Smackdown review before it goes live!

Sasha Banks defeats Dana Brooke

Dana tapped out to the Bank Statement and after the match Charlotte attacked Sasha from behind and threw her over the table. In a confrontation backstage later on between Sasha and Charlotte, Charlotte revealed that at Battleground it would be a tag match, Dana Brooke and herself vs Sasha Banks and whoever is willing to team with her. I honestly can't say I'm excited for another tag team match for the womens division on a pay per view but I understand that they'd want to save Sasha and Charlotte's one on one for Summerslam so you know what WWE I understand.

Dolph Ziggler defeats Rusev

Dolph Ziggler got the roll up victory over Rusev after Rusev got carried away trying to get Zack Ryder after he came out in an attempt to distract Rusev. It really shows how much momentum Dolph has lost that Zack Ryder is helping him win matches. Either way it's a good way to hype up Rusev and Zack Ryder's match at Battleground however it doesn't sway who I think will win, which will be shared in my prediction post soon.

AJ Styles and Karl Anderson defeat Enzo and Big Cass

Enzo was just about to tag in Cass but Luke Gallows interfered in the match and pulled Cass off the apron, allowing AJ to keep Enzo isolated and eventually lock in the Calf Crusher for the victory. Unfortunately for Enzo and Cass, John Cena was not here to help them tonight and it hurt but come Battleground the odds will be evened so who will come out with the win? I still haven't decided who I think it's really up in the air still.

Kalisto defeats Tyler Breeze

Ah what would the last shitty Smackdown be without one really shitty match. This is the type of match that hypes up a Kickoff Show Tag Team match, and that isn't a compliment.

Miz TV with Darren Young and Bob Backlund

The Miz quoted many of Bob Backlunds achievements in the WWE, saying how lucky Darren Young is for having a mentor like him. Miz then went on to show a montage of the best moments in Bob Backlund's career. He attempted to do the same for Darren Young but couldn't because he claimed Darren Young didn't have any moments, which is mostly true but SSSSHHHH.

Bob then gets a mic and tells Darren that a champion needs to be a role model, and The Miz isn't a true champion, but Darren Young will be. They bicker a bit more until Darren and Miz eventually come to a stare down, which is broken up when The Miz and Maryse walk out. Again, this is good hype for the match despite the feud starting only this Monday, but my prediction is still not different.

Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens

After the two made their entrance Seth Rollins came out as well, Seth went on commentary but it didn't take long for him to interfere. Seth began beating down on Dean in the middle of the ring and the Sami Zayn's music hit. Sami Zayn came out and beat up Kevin as Dean gained control of Seth, leaving Dean and Sami standing tall. However Smackdown is still Smackdown and because of these interference's the match was turned in to a tag team match.

Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens defeat Sami Zayn and Dean Ambrose

Seth Rollins dodged Sami Zayn's Heluva Kick and hit him with The Pedigree which got him and Owens the win. After the match Owens looked to inflict more punishment on Zayn but Dean Ambrose stepped in to help. Dean then rushed the ring after Seth Rollins who then narrowly escaped Dirty Deeds, allowing Dean Ambrose to stand tall at the end of the show.

Star Of The Night: Miz TV

I mean I feel like this is an underwhelming Star Of The Night but I honestly believed it was the best thing that happened on Smackdown. It was kind of funny and added a lot to Darren Young's character so yeah, good job Miz TV.

Well Smackdown was quite underwhelming but I didn't expect much more especially getting close to a pay per view and The Draft. See you next week for the first post about Smackdown live and
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
