NXT August 10th 2016

NXT

With the attack on Mojo Rawley from Samoa Joe last week, the main event tonight was set to be between the two.

NXT Womens Championship Contract Signing

Bayley and Asuka both came out to the ring which was already occupied by William Regal and a small table which had the contract on it. After introductions from Regal for both women, Bayley came out, followed by Asuka. They talked and Bayley admitted that she wasn't prepared for the match at Takeover Dallas, but the Asuka aura has worn off now and she's ready to defeat Asuka at NXT Takeover Brooklyn to become the first ever 2 time NXT Womens Champion. She then signed the contract.

Asuka before signing the contract told Bayley that she doesn't have what it takes to beat her, but she respects Bayley. She reached out to shake Bayley's hand, but Bayley told her to use that to sign the contract and get ready for the biggest fight of her life. Asuka then signed the contract. Asuka reaches out for another handshake but Bayley slaps her hand away and bumps Asuka hard on her way out the ring, but she comes back and has an intense stare down before Asuka holds up the title, and walks out staring at Bayley the whole time. I think this was good, not only does it add fire to the feud but it adds fire to Bayleys character and shows she's not just a goody two shoes.

The Authors Of Pain defeated Jobbers

This was a squash match, I believe the second one in a row for The Authors Of Pain, and they look like a dominant force even though I don't very much like them. However after the match they continued to assault the jobbers when TM61 came to their aid, but eventually The Authors overpowered TM61 and the Auhtors Of Pain were left standing tall.

Andrade Cien Almas defeated Angelo Dawkins

After hitting a Coast To Coast variation, Almas hit kind of a Hammer Lock DDT to pick up the win over Dawkins. After the match the legend himself Bobby Roode came out. Bobby Roode congratulated Andrade, but not on the win. He congratulated him because after talking with William Regal, Bobby Roode makes his in ring debut at NXT Takeover Brooklyn against Andrade Cien Almas. This is pretty awesome in my opinion and I hope Bobby Roode wins because I'm not a huge fan of Almas and so far Bobby Roode has been really cool.

Billie Kay defeated Liv Morgan

I have a feeling they're trying to push this Billie Kay character since she defeated Liv Morgan after delivering the same Big Boot she delivered to her last victim. I think Billie Kay is kind of weird and at the moment I don't really see her being any sort of top star but you never know maybe she'll become a top heel in NXT.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeated Tucker Knight and Patrick Clark

This gave Gargano and Ciampa a good surge of momentum heading in to the week before Takeover Brooklyn, as earlier in the show backstage it was confirmed they'd be facing The Revival for the titles. I like that because they're both very skilled and entertaining tag teams and if the match is anything like the ones The Revival had with American Alpha then it'll be an instant classic.

Samoa Joe defeated Mojo Rawley

After their confrontation last week on NXT, Mojo and Joe settled their differences in the main event but I don't know what Mojo is still doing on NXT like man you're supposed to be on Smackdown on the main roster! Anyways Joe made easy pickings of him after making him tap to the Kokieda Clutch, however Joe applied the submission again after the match screaming Nakamura, Nakamura answered and his music hit. Security ran ahead of Shinsuke and held Joe back while Shinsuke stood back and poked the bear. I love Shinsuke's attitude heading in to this even if it is a bit of joking. Looking forward to this match.

Star Of The Night: Takeover Card Additions

Three matches were officially added to the card of Takeover Brooklyn on this edition of NXT and for the most part they're all pretty good, including The Revival vs Gargano and Ciampa, Austin Aries vs No Way Jose, and Andrade Cien Almas vs Bobby Roode. I'm most excited for the tag team title match but they all seem to be great additions to the card.

And with that I am done.
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
