My Opinion On...#2 (Conor McGregor)

My Opinion On The Conor McGregor Comments

If you haven't yet heard what happened with Conor McGregor and WWE, or if you don't know who Conor McGregor is I will briefly tell you. Conor McGregor is currently fighting in the MMA scene with the UFC. He is the current UFC Featherweight Champion and he's notorious for having a big mouth. Rumors arose in the last month or so that WWE was interested in Conor McGregor competing with them, however that offer, if it ever existed, was likely taken off the table after the recent comments he made on the WWE.

Conor McGregor initially made the comment "For the most part, those WWE guys are pussies." This comment caused outrage from many WWE fans and they retaliated towards McGregor. McGregor, then responding to the fans coming at him tweeted this
This caused many current, and former WWE wrestlers to fire back, the trend being started by everyone's favourite; Roman Reigns. He tweeted this
.Many others including the likes of Rusev, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and even Sasha Banks responded to McGregor but I'm here to talk about Conor's comments, including the one's where in an interview Conor took shots at John Cena saying he's a 40 year old failed olympian. This whole thing has kind of started a lot of beef between fans of UFC and fans of WWE so I'll tell you what I think about it all.

Starting from the beginning, McGregor is known to be like this but at the same time it's extremely ignorant of him to make these comments. He fights 15 minute matches twice a year, as Rusev said, and sure they're legit fights that include MMA and all but it's almost like comparing apples and oranges. The WWE performers put their bodies on the line 5 days a week some of them. And I'm sure fans of UFC would say "but it's all fake so it doesn't hurt" and them saying that is also ignorant. They would have to be literally invincible if they didn't want jumping from 20 feet in the air on to the ground to hurt. Or getting thrown in to a pile of thumbtacks. Sure these things all are scripted spots but it's amazing what these performers will do to entertain the crowd. I'd like to see if he still calls them pussies after being thrown in to a pile of thumbtacks.

The fact that he even said that comment in the first place is highly immature of him as well as ignorant considering what I said before. After the WWE fans understandably retaliated, which it seemed like he was asking for, he decided to make a tweet responding as I included above but you can see it here. Basically he said he could beat up the entire WWE roster. Okay...so I understand he has MMA training but let's look at the facts. Since he was also in the UFC at one point, let's compare McGregor to Brock Lesnar. Just for fun. Conor McGregor is 5 foot 9, 170 pounds. Brock Lesnar is 6 foot 3, 280 pounds.
This is the case for most WWE performers so saying that he could beat them all up, despite his training is quite obviously false confidence and in general a huge stretch and a bold statement for a 170 pounder who is shorter than most 16 year olds. The fact that the performers from the pro wrestling industry fired back with comments of their own in my opinion was awesome because it seemed to shut him and his ignorance up for the time being but there's one last little thing I want to cover or compare here. What McGregor said about John Cena was not only immature, but come on dude the "40 year old failed olympian" you're taking shots at could lift like 4 of you.

Anyways, those are my thoughts on the whole situation. It's a long shot but this could all be a publicity stunt leading to Conor's WWE debut, however I sincerely doubt it. Hope you enjoyed number 2 of "My Opinion On..." and check out Number One here!
Until next time,
Devon Wizard
